Students & Teachers
Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand." -Chinese Proverb
Students (age 8 and up when accompanied by a parent) and their teachers will find the Danforth Center's "World Food Day Commemoration" to be an outstanding way to go beyond the classroom to learn about global hunger, malnutrition and plant science.
Here’s how you can get involved:
Teachers:
Encourage your students to participate in the packaging and educational sessions we have planned. You can:
-
Incent Participation: school policies permitting, you might consider providing an "incentive" for students who wear our logo'd, colored bracelets (given to each participant upon arrival at the Center). This could be a homework bonus or something small to encourage them to learn beyond the classroom. This also could fulfill required community service hours!
-
Use Email: this is a great way to encourage students (and parents) to learn more and participate.
-
Attend yourself! You will enrich your classroom skills and experiences and have fun!
Students:
Let your teachers know about the opportunity to participate in the packaging and educational sessions we have planned. You might even suggest they let you include the experience as community service or extra credit!
